It’s getting to be that time of year… the weather is warming up and the end of school is in sight, and that means it’s time to start thinking about summer jobs!

Why get a summer job? Having a job in the summertime is a great way to make money, gain important skills and knowledge, and get to know professionals right in your own community. As a high school student, summer employment is the perfect thing to begin to build a resume, and it will be sure to impress future employers. How to use Community Ties to find a summer job: There are two ways you can use Community Ties to find a job: 1.) Read through the job openings that professionals have listed in the Jobs and Internships forum. 2.) Describe what type of summer job you are looking for as a new topic in the forum —be sure to list the types of jobs you’d be interested in, the skills you have to offer, and put a link to your Community Ties profile in your post (and make sure your profile in complete!).	Why hire a student this summer? Now is the time that capable and hardworking students are looking for opportunities for summer employment. Start thinking about whether your business could use some seasonal help, and if you’re willing to take on students as employees or interns for the summer. Hiring a student for the summer can also be a great way to give back to the community and mentor a local student. How to use Community Ties to find a student worker for the summer: There are two ways you can use Community Ties to find a student worker: 1.) View the Jobs and Internships forum to find students that have already posted their interests in summer employment. 2.) List the type of positions/work you have to offer as a new topic in the forum — include the job description and skills the ideal candidate for that position would possess. Also, put a link to your Community Ties profile and, if you have one, your Community Ties Business page so that interested students can find out more about you and your business.
