This year is Senior year and as far as I know everyone has plans for what they wanna be. I'm still mixed up because many people look and say my goals are to hard to live up to. Look ever goal is hard because it is a goal not something u already have. People make being famous look like its the hardest thing in the world, but who says it has to be. Everything takes time to prepare for it. Even though I have so much still left to think about I still have to look at my strength's and graduate, which I know I can do I know God will always be her.
As the economy continues to struggle, Community Ties has not lost sight of the importance of offering jobs and internships to high school students and young adults in their local communities. In fact, Community Ties is so dedicated to helping form connections between professionals and young adults that we have sponsored a contest to do just that.
This winter, two winning students and two businesses have been selected as Community Ties Sponsored Internships.

Next week the Fairview Highschool Eagles will play Augres Sims for the Homecoming game on Friday February 26, 2010. Hi everyone! My name is Allison Weber and I moved here from the Detroit area in December of 2009. I lived in Mio from 1999 to 2004, and was led back by memories of the beautiful natural resources and friendly community. I am an Americorps member for Oscoda County's MSU Extension 4-H Peer Mentoring Initiative. That is a long title! Bottom line, I am an Americorps member serving my country through service to the youth of Oscoda County. The Peer Mentoring Program meets every other Wednesday in the Mio and Fairview Schools.
Actually, I love my job! I am so grateful to be given this wonderful opportunity to work at the Forest Service. I have a feeling that this internship will open up doors for me and my future. Deciding on what to go for in life is a hard stressful decision, but I am being given the chance to experience each and every department in that deals with the Forest Service, which will help me make my decision. I am so thankful that I have received this!
"My mother and father in law live in this area and have for over 20 years. They are now 78 years old and need a little more help getting along. My wife and I wanted to be here for them because their financial situation would make it difficult for them to relocate anywhere closer to other family members.
So I was able to join AmeriCorps and serve right here in Oscoda County.. I guess you could say that I live here to serve my parents (in laws) and thanks to AmeriCorps I also get to serve the residents of Oscoda County in various capacities.
Some people dread going to work each day. I look forward to going to my job. As a real estate salesperson I am in constant communication with people. Either on the phone, in person or emailing, I have found that I like interacting with people. Whether it is helping them to sell a property or buying a house. I enjoy helping people to achieve their real estate goal.
Having been born and raised in Oscoda county, it wasn't until I lived in Chicago for 3 years and then moved back to Fairview that I realized what I had missed while I was gone from here. We take for granted our green trees, the green fields, the Ausable river and other streams. The thousands of acres of Federal and State forests that we have access to on a daily basis. We can walk out our back doors into complete silence or maybe looking up at night and seeing a sky full of stars. Some people can only dream of living in an area like us.
