Local Businesses Hire Interns

As the economy continues to struggle, Community Ties has not lost sight of the importance of offering jobs and internships to high school students and young adults in their local communities. In fact, Community Ties is so dedicated to helping form connections between professionals and young adults that we have sponsored a contest to do just that.

This winter, two winning students and two businesses have been selected as Community Ties Sponsored Internships.

Amber Sheffer, a student at Mio High School, has been placed with the United States Forest Service. She is very excited about this opportunity to begin her future career right here in Oscoda County.

Jon Ball, also a student at Mio High School, has been placed with Oscoda County Ambulance Service. He wants to go into paramedic technologies and plans to work on his premed requirements in college. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience within his career field without leaving home.

Although social networking sites such as Facebook are commonly associated with entertainment, Community Ties is helping show Oscoda County that social networking- when done in a professional manner- is also a great way to find jobs as well as employees. There are still a great number of students looking for jobs and businesses looking for interns. If you are interested in finding an internship or intern, visit Community Ties and see if you can help make another student’s dream job a reality.
