TC West Blood Drive

A few weeks ago we had the folks from MI Blood here at West Senior High. They were conducting a blood drive in coordination with our Student Senate to help fulfill the everlasting need for donors. The drive lasted all day, and had a great turnout fueled by the desire to donate (along with free food and the privilege of missing class). It was held in our new small gym throughout the entire day, and anyone who was 17 or older was able to donate.

Trashion

This past Saturday a bunch of local highschoolers gathered to show off their hardwork at the third annual Trashion Fashion Show at Traverse City West! All of the trendiest fashions were designed from trash and other recyclable materials. The show also included judges with expertise in the design and fashion industry to take a critical eye to the masterpieces and decide where the bragging rights would go this year.

Working online combines work and searching

Are you looking to learn about Websites?

I work online daily in quest for knowlege and finding wheels.  Meaning today's technology is a lot of copy and paste - finding what is durable time lasting content is the key. Don't re-invent the wheel - instead learn what is out there being used and get to work to make it better.

Prom Dress Re-sale!

If this wonderful weather is any sign then Spring is here to stay and with spring always comes the excitement of prom!  Every girl is beginning their search for the perfect dress and of course the first thought is to run to the stores. But with the economy the way it is, for many hitting the stores is not a good option. Instead, let's take a step back and consider our another option. TC West will be hosting a prom dress resale April 19th through April 21st with dresses only costing $5 or $10. You will also be able search for the perfect accessories with the perfect little price.

Traverse City Comedy Arts Festival

A few weeks ago I was able to check out a new tradition in Traverse City, titled the Comedy Arts Festival. This weekend of shows, brought to us by Michael Moore (as well as half of the people in the area who decided to volunteer for it), brought out a huge crowd.

Local Businesses Hire Interns

As the economy continues to struggle, Community Ties has not lost sight of the importance of offering jobs and internships to high school students and young adults in their local communities. In fact, Community Ties is so dedicated to helping form connections between professionals and young adults that we have sponsored a contest to do just that.

This winter, two winning students and two businesses have been selected as the Community Ties Sponsored Internships.
